Trendyol is Turkey's largest e-commerce marketplace. A new brand's first orders usually come from here rather than from its own website. This guide covers the seller onboarding process, the commission structure and the part that really matters — integration.
Trendyol seller requirements
What you need to apply:
- A company or sole proprietorship (you must be registered for tax in Turkey)
- Tax registration certificate (vergi levhası — the document issued by the Turkish tax office)
- Authorised signatory list or signature declaration (imza sirküleri / imza beyannamesi — the notarised document showing who can sign for the business)
- Bank account details (IBAN) in the company's name
- Contact details and a warehouse/returns address
- If you sell a brand: a trademark registration certificate or letter of authorisation
Approval usually takes a few business days. In categories that require trademark registration (cosmetics, electronic accessories, clothing brands), missing documents are the most common reason for rejection.
Commission rates and the real cost
| Category | Commission range |
|---|---|
| Electronics | 8–12% |
| Fashion and clothing | 15–20% |
| Home and living | 12–18% |
| Cosmetics | 15–20% |
| Books, stationery | 10–15% |
Rates vary by category and seasonal campaigns; check the current list in the seller panel.
Commission isn't the only item in your profit calculation. The real cost is the sum of:
- Commission: On the sale amount
- Shipping: Contracted rates, paid by the seller in most categories
- Returns: The return rate can reach 20–30% in fashion; return shipping is a cost too
- Campaign participation: The discount is funded by the seller
- Advertising: To appear near the top of your category
Pricing without adding these up leads to a picture where revenue grows while profit melts away. Practical rule: add at least 10 more points on top of the category commission when calculating your margin.
Product listings
Three things determine visibility on Trendyol: the product title, image quality and seller rating.
- Title: Brand + product type + distinguishing feature. Keyword stuffing backfires.
- Images: White background, at least 1,200 pixels, the product alone in the first image.
- Variants: Colour and size variants should be grouped under one product; listing them separately splits the reviews.
- Category: The wrong category affects both commission and visibility.
API integration: this is the real issue
When you sell through one channel, managing things by hand works. The moment you open a second channel it doesn't — because the same stock is kept separately in two places and you start selling products you no longer have.
Flows you can build with the Trendyol API:
- Product and price export: From your central system to Trendyol
- Stock synchronisation: From one hub to all channels
- Order import: Trendyol orders into your own panel
- Shipping and invoicing: Barcode generation and the e-Archive invoice flow (e-Arşiv fatura, Turkey's mandatory electronic invoice for consumer sales)
- Returns management: Central tracking of return requests
The critical synchronisation decision
Which system holds the "true" stock? This question needs one answer — usually the accounting or warehouse system. All other channels are fed from there. Setting up two-way sync without defining which system tells the truth is the most common mistake that keeps corrupting stock data.
Price differentiation
Because you pay commission on the marketplace, selling a product at the same price as on your own site eats your margin. The integration needs to support channel-based pricing rules: one price for your own site, and a price with the commission added for the marketplace.
Off-the-shelf integration or custom development?
Ready-made solutions are enough for standard scenarios: one warehouse, standard pricing, one marketplace, a common e-commerce platform.
Custom development is needed when you have:
- More than one warehouse and warehouse-level stock
- Channel-specific pricing and campaign rules
- A connection to an ERP or custom accounting system
- Dealer/wholesale price lists that must work alongside
- Three or more marketplaces
On cost: ready-made solutions are subscriptions in the 500–3,000 TL per month range; a custom integration is a one-off investment of 25,000–80,000 TL. The break-even point is usually the second year and the third channel.
Common mistakes
- Keeping the stock sync interval too long (over 15 minutes is risky)
- Having no notification mechanism for errors — an order that fails to transfer goes unnoticed
- Leaving the Trendyol price the same as on your own site
- Not accounting for the return rate
- Depending on a single channel: if your Trendyol account is suspended, sales drop to zero
The last item is the strategic one. The marketplace is your volume channel; your own site is the commission-free channel that belongs to you. The two should run together.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the integration take?
3–5 weeks for a standard order + stock flow. 6–10 weeks if there's an ERP connection and multiple warehouses.
Is Trendyol enough if I don't have my own website?
It's enough to start with, but customers become Trendyol's customers, not yours. To build a brand and sell without commission you need your own site. We explain the setup steps on our e-commerce website page.
Can Hepsiburada and N11 be added too?
Yes. In a well-designed integration architecture, adding a second and third marketplace (Hepsiburada and N11 are Turkey's other major marketplaces) is much faster than the first.
How does invoicing work?
e-Archive invoicing is mandatory. The integration should issue the invoice automatically when the order is completed and pass it on to accounting.
